Gifted and Talented Students Shouldn't Be Left Behind
Gifted and Talented Students Shouldn't Be Left Behind! What does it take to motivate gifted students? Well, gifted students usually dislike completing worksheets to which they already know all the answers. A regular classroom teacher might allow the gifted student to complete part of an assigned worksheet and then move on to a critical thinking activity. Perhaps, the student could create an activity for the class that goes along with the lesson. An extension activity created by the gifted student may be able to reach students that normally wouldn't have success with the lesson. Sometimes, peers can teach each other better than we teachers can. This, in turn, motivates the gifted student to participate in the lesson instead of being left behind.
